Chrishell Stubbs, Cora Emmanuel & Anais Mali for V Magazine “The Queen of Hip-Hop” (V75)

With all the talk about the article “N**gaB**ch” posted in Dutch magazine Jackie, this editorial makes me a bit uneasy. Like it or not, Hip-Hop music and Hip-hop culture is a representation as well as a misrepresentation of black people and black culture. All this article shows is that the queens we celebrate proudly shows their tits for rappers and dress scantly clad. Can you really get upset with the article Jackie magazine wrote when images such as this is what they have to go on when thinking of the black woman?

In the editorial’s defense. According to model.com this is V Magazine first ever Music issue. It pays tribute to the “dynamic influence” of trend setting performers through the ages.The try to explore the relationship between hip hop & high fashion in an outlandish editorial. Cerf De Dudzeele tells V “I love girls that men want to follow in the street—glamorous, sexy, powerful. You’re born with it, it’s not something you learn. I have always been obsessed by hip-hop. L’attitude is always right.”
